Becoming a Biblical Leader

We’re confident that this study is going to benefit everyone. It’s not just about preparing to be a leader in the church, it’s about preparing to be really a gospel Christian who’s trying to lead other people to follow Jesus, which is what discipleship is all about.
There are two goals of this study.
First, to help every person deepen his or her understanding of what it means to be a member of a local church. We want to really help each one another to think about the church the way God thinks about the church. To think about the church the way Jesus thinks about the church. And that means to value it the way He values it. And think about how much do we actually value the body of Christ? What priority does it have in our lives? This is a time for us to work together on these. We all need to grow in the value we place on the body of Christ, the priority it has in our life. We have these responsibilities, and in light of that, to one another.
The second major goal is to equip every person to be more effective witness for Christ by growing in our knowledge of the scripture, deepening our understanding of theology, developing godly character, So it’s not just what we know, it’s what we become. To know the truth, to live the truth, and to be more like Christ, and then cultivating faithfulness in our spiritual disciplines.
So these are the big goals of the class. Think about that. To change the way we see the church, to become more God-centered in the way we think about the people of God, and to grow as an effective witness for the Lord.
Goals of the Study
- To help every person deepen his/her understanding of what it means to be a member of a local church including:
- The value we each place on the church
- The priority the church has in our lives
- The responsibilities we all have tothe Lord and to one another
- To equip every person to be a more effective witness for Christ by:
- Growing in the knowledge of Scripture
- Deepening our understanding of key theological concepts
- Developi ng godly character
- Cultivating faithfulness in the spiritual disciplines of the Christian life
